Dr. Pandit is currently Associate Provost for International Education at the University of Georgia. Her previous academic administrative positions include Senior Vice Provost for the State University of New York as well as Associate Dean of the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences and Head of the Department of Geography at the University of Georgia. Dr. Pandit’s academic interests are in the areas of population geography, migration and economic development, and she has a strong record of publications and funded research. She has served on the NSF Division of Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences’ Committee of Visitors and senior review panel and on the editorial boards of several top ranked journals. Among her many recognitions as a professor of geography are the presidency of the Association of American Geographers and the Ron F. Abler Distinguished Service Award from the AAG and the Sandy Beaver Award for Outstanding Teaching, Sarah Moss Fellow and Lilly Teaching Fellow at the University of Georgia. Dr. Pandit is a native of Mumbai, India with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Bombay University, a Master of City and Regional Planning from The Ohio State University, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Geography from The Ohio State University.
