The Office of Faculty Affairs is accepting nominations for the following Regents’ and Georgia State University awards, listed in order of nomination deadline. Please nominate outstanding faculty for these important recognitions.
Regents’ Teaching Awards
The University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents awards a number of Teaching Excellence Awards annually. The Center of Excellence in Teaching and Learning coordinates internal competitions to determine the university’s nominees for each of these awards.
Deadline: Monday, Oct. 22.
Regents’ Professorship
Regents’ Professorships are bestowed on Georgia State’s most distinguished faculty, whose scholarly achievements are recognized nationally and internationally as innovative and renowned. The appointment is made by the University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents on recommendation of the president of Georgia State as per BOR policy manual 8.3.2. Nominations must come from deans or Regents’ Professors.
Deadline: Monday, Nov. 26.
Alumni Distinguished Professorship
Georgia State views the “teacher-scholar” as the ideal for university faculty. The Alumni Distinguished Professor recognizes a high-achieving tenured professor who embodies this balance. Nominations should come from department chairs.
Deadline: Monday, Nov. 26.
Outstanding Faculty Achievement Award
The Outstanding Faculty Achievement Award recognizes a faculty member for outstanding achievements across scholarship, teaching and service. It is open to graduate faculty at the assistant/associate professor rank who have been at Georgia State for at least four years. Nominations should come from department chairs.
Deadline: Monday, Nov. 26.
Exceptional Service Award
This award recognizes a faculty member for exceptional, sustained, and impactful accomplishments in service. It is open to Georgia State graduate faculty who have been at the university for at least four years. Nominations should come from department chairs.
Deadline: Monday, Nov. 26.
Instructional Innovation Award
The purpose of the Instructional Innovation Award is to recognize and share at the university level outstanding innovations in teaching that result in improved learning.
Deadline: Monday, Nov. 26.
Instructional Effectiveness Award
The Instructional Effectiveness Award recognizes an instructor who demonstrates a strong commitment to teaching and student success and uses instructional approaches that are creative and effective in engaging students in the learning process.
Deadline: Monday, Nov. 26.
Distinguished University Professorship
The appointment of Distinguished University Professor at Georgia State recognizes a sustained and outstanding record in scholarship and instruction, and provides the impetus for continuing high achievement. Distinguished University Professors are expected to serve the university as exemplary faculty members by contributing to its research, instructional and service missions. Nominations must come from deans.
