Teaching and Learning Excellence and Innovation Recognized by the Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning & Online Education

Georgia State is pleased to announce the winners of the 2024-25 awards from the Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning & Online Education (CETLOE), recognizing outstanding contributions to teaching and learning at GSU. These awards celebrate the innovative and effective practices of our faculty and graduate teaching assistants who have made significant impacts on student engagement and success.
Winners include:
Instructional Innovation Award
Recipient: Dr. Robin Hartinger-Saunders
Highlights: Dr. Hartinger-Saunders has been recognized for her exceptional ability to adapt and integrate emerging technologies, such as custom generative pre-trained transformers (GPTs) in OpenAI, to simulate client interactions. Her innovative approach has significantly enhanced student engagement and learning outcomes.
Instructional Effectiveness Award
Recipient: Dr. Jacque-Corey Cormier
Highlights: Dr. Cormier’s commitment to effective teaching practices and the use of multiple media to ensure student success stood out. His philosophy of guiding every instructional choice by the question, “How will this support learning?” has led to remarkable student engagement and success.
Part-Time Instructor Pedagogy Award
Recipient: Dr. Daniel McCarthy-Howard
Highlights: Dr. McCarthy-Howard has been honored for their exceptional dedication to teaching and the development of student learning. Their ability to create a learning environment that engages students with complex material has been highly praised by both students and department leaders.
Graduate Teaching Assistant Pedagogy Award
Recipient: Meghan Vogt
Highlights: Ms. Vogt has demonstrated exceptional work in the classroom and a strong dedication to developing her craft as an educator. Her commitment to undergraduate teaching has made a lasting impact on her students and department.
