This position will play a critical role in advancing the institution’s strategic priorities, driving innovation, and promoting excellence across all areas. The position reports directly to the Provost and works closely with senior leadership, faculty, and staff to develop and implement strategic initiatives that align with the institution’s vision and goals.

Nicolle Parsons-Pollard Appointed Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Effective Feb. 1

Nicolle Parsons-Pollard has been appointed by Georgia State President M. Brian Blake as Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs effective Feb. 1, 2023.

Since arriving at Georgia State in January 2020 as associate provost for faculty affairs, Dr. Parsons-Pollard has created, implemented and championed a variety of faculty development programs to support and strengthen faculty in teaching and research, as well as leadership programming for department chairs and other administrators. She has served as Georgia State’s interim provost since January 2022.

Dr. Timothy Denning Appointed Vice President for Research and Economic Development Effective Nov. 2

Dr. Timothy Denning Appointed Vice President for Research and Economic Development Effective Nov. 2

Dr. Timothy Denning, associate director of the Institute for Biomedical Sciences (IBMS), will become Georgia State’s vice president for research and economic development, effective Nov. 2.

He succeeds Dr. Michael Eriksen, who has served as interim vice president for research and economic development since the departure of former vice president James Weyhenmeyer in 2019. Dr. Eriksen, an internationally renowned scholar and leader in public health, will return to his faculty role in the Georgia State School of Public Health.
