The attached document is a compendium of press releases related to the launch of the Second Century Initiative (2CI) and its approved cluster proposals. It is provided for archival purposes to show the proposals as they were originally selected. Implementation of each cluster was subject to change.

The Second Century Initiative was launched in 2009 as Georgia State University anticipated its centennial year in 2013. Departments at the university were challenged to propose bold, innovative and interdisciplinary areas of focus to bring top faculty to Georgia State.

Selected hiring rounds were announced annually from 2010 through 2014. Please note: Proposals and programs have been continuously evaluated for effectiveness, and may have been modified or discontinued.
