The Research Innovation and Scholarly Excellence Challenge (RISE)
In 2022, Georgia State is proud to launch a transformational new Research Innovation and Scholarly Excellence (RISE) challenge that will marshal the unique strengths of our research community to address complex problems through interdisciplinary collaboration. This initiative aims to foster an innovative research ecosystem that will mobilize faculty across units around high-impact foci and translate research discovery into outcomes that will elevate Georgia State to national and global prominence.
Next Generation Program & Second Century Initiative (2CI) (2009-2019)
Continuing to pay major dividends, the Next Generation Program followed the very successful Second Century Initiative (2CI), building strength around core and innovative research and scholarly themes that have strategic importance to the university. The interdisciplinary initiative added new faculty strength to maintain our growing scholarly trajectory. We aim to recruit a diverse cadre of faculty to engage with our diverse community of students. 2CI and Next Gen have brought top-notch faculty in an collaborative environment that has built several leading interdisciplinary centers of research and scholarship that address pressing global problems, yield new discoveries, and take advantage of the technologies of the future. Some of these centers listed below were started in part by 2CI/Next Gen faculty, or were existing centers which were significantly strengthened by 2CI/Next Gen.
