Georgia State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of Perimeter College. The Dean is the primary executive officer responsible for the academic, administrative, research, and service functions of Perimeter College. The Dean reports to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs of Georgia State University and is responsible for visionary, innovative leadership, and effective administration of the College.
Perimeter College serves its students at five campuses: Alpharetta, Clarkston, Decatur, Dunwoody, and Newton. Perimeter College is strategically poised to continue the success of educating students that began more than 50 years ago when it first opened its doors in 1964 in Clarkston, Georgia as Dekalb College. Since then, the college has grown to include four additional campuses throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area and has become a pioneer in online learning, while also offering more than 30 pathways leading to an associate degree.
The successful candidate will possess a doctoral degree and a record of accomplishment that merits tenure at the level of full professor; successful experience in academic administration with direct supervision of staff and/or faculty; demonstrated ability to provide vision, strategic thinking, coherent planning, and evaluation; a record of fostering teamwork, collegiality, relationship building, mentoring, and integrity; the ability to advocate and represent the College within the campus community; as well as with external groups including employers, potential donors and local, state and national representatives; a record of effective working relationships with administration, faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
