From the Provost: Rodney Lyn Appointed as Dean of the School of Public Health Effective June 1

Provost Wendy Hensel announced the appointment of Dr. Rodney Lyn as full dean of the School of Public Health, effective June 1.

Dr. Lyn serves as Professor in the school’s Department of Health Policy and Behavioral Sciences and has held several leadership positions prior to becoming Interim Dean in 2019.

Dr. Lyn has led or contributed to funded research grants totaling more than $16 million to advance knowledge in the areas of childhood obesity prevention, school and community health, and the reduction of health disparities.

Wendy Hensel, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Georgia State University, has named Nicolle Parsons-Pollard, Vice Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs at Monmouth University, as Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs at Georgia State University, effective July 1.

From the President: Wendy Hensel Named Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

From Georgia State University President Mark Becker:

I am pleased to name Wendy Hensel, interim provost and senior vice president for academic affairs since July 1, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs.

Wendy, an outstanding scholar and leader, has proven very quickly she has the vision, skills and experience to lead our academic community.

The dean of the College of Law since 2017 until her appointment as interim provost in the summer, she is a nationally recognized expert on employment discrimination and special education. Her scholarship has appeared in leading books, peer-reviewed publications and law reviews, and her work has been cited by courts, media outlets and scholars nationally and internationally.
